But what's about shedule?
In British schools students do not have any idle times. They have as many lessons as there are time slots available, except for students in Sixth Form/colleges. Therefore the compactness of the schedule (i.e. the spread of the free periods) is not an issue. For example, study in St. Paul's Catholic School a full-time teacher is scheduled for a maximum of 22 teaching hours a week and students are scheduled for exactly 25 hours a week except in Sixth Form, where students are on average scheduled for 21 hours a week.
The amount
of time devoted to break times differs from school to school.
- 4 - 7 year olds - Two 20 minute breaks ( one in the morning and one in the afternoon)
- 7 - 16 year olds - One 20 minute break.
During
break times and lunch times the children go out and play in the playground.
